Re-START Alliance Launches Cluster Collective to Scale Textile-to-Textile Recycling in India
The Re-START Alliance has launched Cluster Collective, its first flagship initiative aimed at scaling textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling in India. Led by founding partner IDH, the four-year programme will initially focus on textile hubs in Ludhiana and Indore, with plans to expand to additional clusters. The initiative aims to enhance India’s textile recycling capacity by advancing sorting and recycling technologies, establishing shared waste collection infrastructure, and engaging key supply-chain stakeholders.
Cluster Collective also addresses labour formalisation and policy alignment, while promoting collaboration across industrial clusters to unlock shared investment and market opportunities. Supported by a €13 million technical assistance fund and partnerships with brands, recyclers, and development agencies, the programme represents a major step toward reducing India’s textile waste and advancing the Re-START Alliance’s long-term goal of introducing one million tonnes of recycled fibres into global textile supply chains.
