Maje creates handbags using deadstock leather collected by Adapta
French contemporary brand Maje is taking its sustainability efforts to new heights, partnering with eco-innovator Adapta to launch a limited-edition handbag line crafted entirely from luxury deadstock leather. The capsule collection, debuting mid-March, marks Maje’s latest move to align with circular fashion principles, following its secondhand resale program and repair services.
The collection features three of Maje’s most iconic fringed designs—the Miss M, M Bag, and Mini M Bag—each produced in a limited run of 100 pieces in Italy. Adapta handpicked leather, which is sourced from surplus materials of luxury brands, gives new life to what would otherwise go to waste.
The exclusive pieces will be available on Maje’s e-commerce platforms in Europe and the U.S. and in select boutiques. Prices range from €275 to €335. This initiative reflects Maje’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while maintaining its signature style.
Maje’s collaboration with Adapta is a testament to the growing trend of upcycling in the fashion industry. Brands are increasingly turning to innovative solutions to address waste and resource challenges. By integrating sustainability into its core offerings, Maje is not only appealing to eco-conscious consumers but also setting a precedent for how fashion brands can balance creativity with responsibility.
