LEMAIRE unveils Bird Call collection for bird communications

Paris-based fashion brand LEMAIRE has recently introduced a new addition to its collectibles line—the Bird Call series. Crafted in France, these whistles are meticulously fashioned from locally sourced wood such as hornbeam, maple, and white waxwood, certified by PEFC. Each piece is meticulously hand-carved, painted with imitated bird feathers, and adorned with adjustable leather lanyards, serving as an ideal tool for mimicking birdcalls, identifying avian species, and communicating with them.

Inspiration for this collection arose from LEMAIRE's dialogue with Quelle Est Belle, a small whistle-making company nestled in the rural regions of the Dordogne. François Morel, the proprietor, has been carving and crafting whistles since his early days, emphasizing, 'The closer our connection to nature, the better we can protect it.' This philosophy aligns seamlessly with LEMAIRE's longstanding commitment to natural principles and humanistic creativity.

The LEMAIRE Bird Call series made its initial debut in the autumn-winter of 2023, emulating the chirps of terns, finches, seagulls, and goldfinches. The new collection introduces the melodies of larks and cuckoos, allowing users to adjust the sounds by softly blowing into the whistle or by manipulating the air holes with their fingers, inviting responses from the avian world and exploring the poetry of birdcalls in nature.
