MycoWorks, a leading biotechnology company, proudly announces the successful harvest of the first 1,000 sheets of its luxury leather alternative biomaterial at its commercial-scale fine mycelium plant located in South Carolina, United States.

These sheets, produced from fine mycelium, are now en route to various partner tanneries across Europe. Here, the innovative mycelium material will be transformed into an array of products, including the company's flagship material, Reishi. Renowned for its customizability, durability, and low-carbon footprint, Reishi mirrors the strength and tactile experience of the finest natural leathers.

MycoWorks highlighted that the fine mycelium growth achieved at the South Carolina plant surpasses the quality benchmarks set by sheets grown at the company's California pilot plant. This elevated quality outcome is attributed to the application of extensive learning derived from years of perfecting quality standards and scaling up production operations from the pilot phase.

The company emphasized that their three years of meticulous research and development at the pilot plant were instrumental in facilitating swift scalability. Their proprietary tray-based process has proven to be highly effective, operating seamlessly and achieving superior quality results ahead of schedule. This success validates the company's assertion that its unique process can be implemented in diverse locations with equal efficacy.
