Patagonia to hold a sustainable climbing photography exhibition in Shanghai
From June 22nd to July 10th, Patagonia, in collaboration with Black Diamond, will host a sustainable climbing photography exhibition titled "Climbing is Cool" at its Shanghai Jing'an location on Jiaozhou Road. This exhibition aims to capture and showcase the strong and beautiful moments of climbing on paper, bringing them to life and making them tangible, while conveying the sport of climbing and the spirit of climbers in a more formal way.
As a brand rooted in rock climbing, Patagonia founder Chouinard recognized the increasing impact of climbers on rock walls and the surrounding environment. In response, he advocated for "Leave No Trace" climbing, using chocks instead of pitons, which fundamentally changed the techniques and social norms of the sport. Earlier this year, the brand connected with climbing photographer DaChuang Karma and together they organized the nationwide tour of the "Climbing is Cool" photography exhibition.
With the thriving development of the domestic climbing community in recent years, Patagonia believes that photography, unlike digital media, leaves behind imprints of past moments and can capture the best state of climbing, while conveying the spirit of climbing through imagery. The brand hopes to transmit the belief of "staying humble, remembering the roots, and nurturing creativity" through this exhibition. They aim for everyone to protect the sports they love, safeguard the places they play, and uphold the values of nature conservation and sustainable development.
