P&G turns plastic waste into shadow puppets

On the occasion of Children's Day, P&G Hair Care Division's "Responsible Beauty" project team, in collaboration with CCTV.com, documented the story of a group of "unconventional" designers who turned recycled plastic waste collected by children into shadow puppets. They then joined a group of children at the Earth Art Festival to retell the fable of "turning the useless into the useful."

For years, P&G has been partnering with its brands to listen to children's voices and address their needs, safeguarding their healthy development through a series of innovative philanthropic projects. This initiative is another embodiment of P&G's "Waste to Beauty" project launched this year. Based on the philosophical concept of "the usefulness of the useless" from Zhuangzi, P&G utilizes plastic recycling as a means to promote environmental sustainability, presenting the idea that sustainable development is a philosophy of everyday life. This concept resonates with the philosophy of "Responsible Beauty" put forward by P&G's Beauty Division.

On Children's Day, P&G demonstrates the "bigger picture" by encouraging children to transform plastic bottles into valuable objects, thereby sparking their thoughts on the environment. Through this activity, the concept of sustainable development is conveyed, injecting unique aesthetic value into the environmental cause. Moreover, it instills environmental consciousness in children's hearts and calls for more people to participate in the creation of sustainable environmental solutions.
