"Dynamic Architecture", the second season of CHANEL Culture Fund's "Next Cultural Producer" program, launched at PSA

From July 15, 2023, to October 8, 2023, the second season of the "Next Cultural Producer" project, titled "Dynamic Architecture," is being exhibited at the Power Station of Art. The exhibition is curated by architect Chen Donghua and named "The Shape of Shadow." It presents a multifaceted perspective, involving ordinary citizens, architects, researchers, and more, to observe, analyse, and interpret the liveliness within the shadows of the southern region.

The curated exhibition "The Shape of Shadow," planned by this season's selected architect Chen Donghua, focuses on the architectural concept of "liveliness" in the unique spatial state of "shadows" found in the southern regions of China. It directly confronts the complexities and constant changes of urban environments and the iterative advancements in material technology. Through this, it challenges the various preconceptions and imaginings about "architecture," aiming to inspire innovative ideas and rejuvenated practices in the contemporary field of Chinese architecture. The exhibition brings together ten pieces of ground shadows scattered across three different daily environmental states in the southern regions – urban, town, and rural areas. By doing so, it encompasses the complexities and continuity highlighted by these "shadows" in different temporal and spatial contexts. The intention is to re-emphasise the vitality and positive significance of "locality" amid the wave of globalisation.

In 2021, the Chanel Culture Fund and the Power Station of Art jointly launched the "Next Cultural Producer" project. Last year, the first season of the "Next Cultural Producer" project presented the exhibition titled "Hill of the Madman" curated by Feng Lixing and Wu You. The exhibition focused on the "Art of Craft".

The Chanel Culture Fund is a global initiative that collaborates with local cultural institutions to create a worldwide impact and promote Chanel's unique initiatives in the field of art.
