Bulgari Hotel Shanghai Launches Youth Art Initiative with Soong Ching Ling Foundation
Bulgari Hotel Shanghai has partnered with the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation to launch “Italian Colors, Children’s Dreams,” a new public welfare initiative aimed at supporting youth aesthetic education and well-being through art and cultural exchange.
Launched ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations, the programme combines an art masterclass for children, a public charity exhibition, and a fundraising gala dinner, blending Italian artistic sensibilities with a focus on social care. The initiative seeks to support children with special needs while promoting creativity and emotional development through artistic expression.
The programme’s art workshop drew inspiration from the mythical “Winged Horse,” a traditional symbol of hope and freedom in Chinese culture. Under the guidance of art curator Xie Dingwei, participating children transformed the symbol with vibrant gemstone-inspired colors, merging Chinese imagery with Italian design aesthetics on canvas. During the session, the hotel also provided Italian-style refreshments, creating a relaxed and celebratory creative environment.
A total of 36 artworks created by the children were later displayed in the hotel’s ballroom foyer as part of the charity exhibition, allowing guests and visitors to experience the children’s imagination and aspirations through art.
The initiative culminated in a Chinese New Year charity dinner held at the hotel’s Michelin two-star Chinese restaurant, Bao Li Xuan. Festive decorations and traditional paper-cut artworks created by artisans enhanced the celebratory atmosphere, while guests enjoyed a specially curated holiday menu prepared by executive Chinese chef Fu Wenbiao and his team.
During the dinner, four artworks donated by artists were acquired by attending guests, with all proceeds directed to the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation to support youth art therapy and psychological care programmes.
The foundation, dedicated to promoting the health and development of women and children, worked alongside the hotel to extend Bulgari’s global commitment to child welfare through local community initiatives.
Through ongoing charitable and cultural programs, Bulgari Hotel Shanghai aims to continue supporting children’s aesthetic education, utilizing art and creativity to help young people build confidence and envision brighter futures.
