Levi's Launches Wear Longer Project to Teach Youth Clothing Repair and Customisation

Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&Co.) has launched the Levi’s Wear Longer Project, a new educational initiative designed to equip young people with practical clothing repair and customisation skills, reinforcing the company’s long-standing commitment to durability and responsible apparel consumption.

Targeted at students in grades nine through twelve, the programme provides free, nationwide access to a digital curriculum developed in partnership with Discovery Education. The content aligns with U.S. K–12 education standards and teaches essential skills such as sewing buttons, patching holes, adjusting hems, and extending the life of everyday garments. Educators and students can access the curriculum through an online platform as well as via Discovery Education Experience for classroom integration.

In addition to digital learning, LS&Co. employees will serve as volunteer ambassadors, offering hands-on instruction in schools and local communities. The initiative will launch in San Francisco, with its first workshop hosted at the company’s Eureka Lab for local high school students, before expanding to other regions globally. Additional workshops and training sessions are planned throughout the year, including community activities scheduled around Super Bowl weekend in San Francisco.

As the programme grows, LS&Co. plans to collaborate with community organisations and select retail locations to broaden access to repair education for both young people and employees. The Wear Longer Project forms part of the company’s wider sustainability strategy, encouraging a cultural shift toward longer garment lifespans and more responsible fashion consumption.
