Google Signs 21-Year Renewable Power Deal with TotalEnergies for Malaysia Data Centres

Google has signed a 21-year renewable power agreement with TotalEnergies to supply 1 terawatt-hour of clean electricity to its data centers in Malaysia. The power will be generated by the Citra Energies solar project, which is scheduled to begin construction in early 2026.

The deal reflects rising electricity demand from AI-driven data centres across Asia, where power needs are increasingly exceeding local utility capacity. By securing a long-term renewable supply, Google supports its global climate commitments while gaining long-term price certainty.

For TotalEnergies, the agreement strengthens its renewable energy strategy in Southeast Asia, anchoring new solar capacity in a rapidly growing digital infrastructure market and highlighting the increasing role of direct, long-term clean energy contracts between technology companies and energy majors.
