This time, we're honored to have Jae Li, a designer specializing in design sustainability research, created a special display booth for the GFS sustainable exhibition area. As a guest professor at Tongji University and Tianjin University, Jae is also the founder and creative director of Circular China, an interdisciplinary sustainable design and innovation research consultancy, as well as the Chief Curator of Green Connections.

The GFS sustainable exhibition area installation adopts the concept of "TRUNK ZERO", which is inspired by the traditional trunk show in the fashion industry during the 19th Century, and is produced by Hai Shang Xuan (Shanghai) Culture Communication Co., Ltd. In computer terminology, "TRUNK" has the meanings of "relay" and "convergence". In the hope of designing and producing a sustainable and portable display booth set-up, Jae locally sourced eco-friendly broken wood for up-cycling, as well as recycled camphor wood box hardware in Shanghai.

Design and Innovate for a Sustainable Future

©GREENEXT

As the global fashion industry moves into the era of sustainable development, the sustainable transformation and upgrading of the fashion industry have to be accelerated as the awareness of sustainable development from the country to the people is gradually raised. The era of sustainable fashion innovation has long arrived. Starting from the source, innovating environmentally friendly materials has become the driving force and key technology of sustainable fashion. Intervening from the source, the sustainable concept runs through the whole life cycle of the design. From product concept to product production, from product consumption to product scrap, the environmental impact of the whole process is fully considered, thus forming a "closed-loop" design system.
