Bulgari opens world's largest production site for jewellery and precious metals
Bulgari, the iconic Roman luxury brand, has unveiled its new state-of-the-art jewellery production site in Valenza, Italy, solidifying its position as a leader in the jewellery industry. This facility, described as the world's largest monobrand jewellery production site, represents a significant expansion for Bulgari, occurring just eight years after the brand opened Europe’s largest manufacturing site in the same location.
The new complex spans 33,000 square metres and is powered entirely by renewable energy, aligning with Bulgari's commitment to sustainability. The expansion includes three buildings, adding two new structures totaling 19,000 square metres to the existing 14,000 square-metre facility. Designed by Italian architectural firm Politecnica, the site features a central building connected by a suspended walkway to two factories, each equipped with a central courtyard.
Bulgari's Valenza site is a hub for production, training, and innovation. The facility houses the Bulgari Academy and the new Scuola Bvlgari, a public training school partnered with TADS (Tarì Design School). These institutions aim to train up to 150 students annually in traditional and modern jewellery-making techniques, addressing the brand's growing need for skilled artisans.
The facility's sustainable design is highlighted by LEED Gold certification and its 100% renewable energy supply, half of which is generated internally through over 4,100 solar panels and 100 geothermal probes. Bulgari has also contributed to local biodiversity by reforesting 8,000 square metres of land and installing ten beehives.
With this expansion, Bulgari aims to double its production capacity by 2029 and create 500 new jobs, increasing its workforce in Valenza from 370 in 2017 to 1,600-1,700. This growth reflects Bulgari's ambition to bring previously outsourced production stages in-house, enhancing its mastery of jewellery crafts and deepening its industry expertise.
