Arc’teryx Introduces System 0 to Embed Circularity Across Product Lifecycles

Arc’teryx has introduced System 0™, a new product development framework designed to integrate circularity across the full lifecycle of outdoor gear—from design, sourcing and manufacturing to use, repair and end-of-life recovery. The framework builds on the brand’s existing ReBIRD™ ecosystem of repair, trade-in, resale and upcycling, while aiming to make circularity a scalable part of its core product system without compromising technical performance.

The first System 0 product, the Sperro SV hardshell, will launch globally on September 4, 2026. Designed for durability, repairability and disassembly, the jacket features separately recyclable nylon components developed with Aquafil and is the first product certified under TESTEX® Circularity. It includes a replaceable zipper slider and three years of unlimited out-of-warranty repairs through ReBIRD™; once no longer repairable, its materials can undergo chemical recycling to separate the nylon from the GORE-TEX membrane, with the nylon regenerated into virgin-grade ECONYL® yarn. By starting with a technically complex hardshell, Arc’teryx aims to demonstrate how circular design can be integrated into high-performance products and subsequently scaled across its wider portfolio.
