UnionPay and Sanjiangyuan Foundation: Exchanging Trash for Dreams

On World Environment Day, China UnionPay and the Sanjiangyuan Ecological Protection Foundation unveiled the charming "Exchanging Trash for Dreams" video. In the video, every simple bow of the head tells a story about the dream of guarding the earth. A girl who likes to draw often crawls on the grass and snaps out broken glass, just for the sake that the grass she plays with will become more and more healthy; a young girl who dreams of becoming a photographer always picks up the garbage in front of her, just for the sake that her hometown will be more beautiful under the lens; an auntie who has been herding for several decades has to observe the garbage every time she grazes, just for the sake of preventing gluttonous "children" from eating it by mistake.

In 2024, China UnionPay and the Sanjiangyuan Ecological Protection Foundation plan to establish the inaugural "UnionPay Starlight Supermarket" in Qumarlêb County, Yushu, Qinghai. Here, guardians of the Sanjiangyuan can redeem and accumulate eco-points from collected waste, which can be exchanged for essential items like daily necessities, books, paintbrushes, soccer balls, cameras, etc., thus transforming the discarded into radiant starlight, forever illuminating their journey towards a fulfilling life and dreams.

Moreover, to share these heartwarming "Exchanging Trash for Dreams" stories, China UnionPay and the Sanjiangyuan Ecological Protection Foundation are hosting an eco-friendly art exhibition titled "Exchanging Trash for Dreams" at the Chengdu Harvest Moon Art Center from June 5th to 10th. This exhibition features works by emerging artists, created using collected waste and inspired by eight real-life environmental protection stories, aiming to make protecting the Sanjiangyuan a shared responsibility.
