TikTok and Two Drifters secure carbon removal for long-term economic gains

Climeworks, a global leader in carbon removal, has announced landmark partnerships with TikTok and Two Drifters Distillery to eliminate over 6,000 tons of CO₂. The deals underscore a growing corporate push toward sustainability and financial resilience. They highlight how carbon removal is becoming a strategic asset for businesses seeking to mitigate climate risks while bolstering long-term profitability.

TikTok has pledged to remove 5,100 tons of CO₂ annually by 2030 through Climeworks’ diversified portfolio, combining Direct Air Capture (DAC), Biochar, and Reforestation. The tech giant’s investment reflects its broader sustainability strategy, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030.

British rum producer Two Drifters Distillery has expanded its carbon removal efforts, committing to remove an additional 1,067 tons of CO₂ via DAC by 2032. Since 2020, the distillery has integrated carbon removal costs directly into its Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), creating a financial incentive to reduce emissions.

Since launching the world’s first self-service carbon removal platform in 2019, Climeworks has attracted over 21,000 customers, including SMEs like pharmaceutical firm ten23 health and web design agency 118Group. The platform democratizes access to carbon removal, enabling businesses of all sizes to mitigate climate impact affordably.
