The 15th Redress Design Award Opens for entries
The Redress Design Award, the world’s leading sustainable fashion design competition, has officially launched its 2025 edition. Organized by environmental fashion NGO Redress and proudly supported by Lead Sponsor, the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the competition invites emerging designers with less than four years of professional experience to submit their entries by 14 March 2025.
This year marks a significant milestone as the Redress Design Award celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since its inception as the EcoChic Design Award, the competition has stood at the forefront of sustainable fashion, championing innovative solutions to combat the industry’s environmental challenges. This milestone also serves as a stark reminder of fashion’s growing footprint, with production surging and planetary resources under strain, exacerbating the already critical issue of textile waste.
At the heart of the Redress Design Award lies its mission to educate and empower new generations of designers to embrace circular design principles. Research shows that 80% of a product’s environmental impact is determined at the design stage, making designers pivotal in shaping a sustainable future for fashion. This is particularly crucial in Asia, a major hub for global apparel production.
The stakes are high, with the global fashion industry valued at €1.7 trillion in 2023 and projected to grow by 7.4% annually through 2030. Without the widespread adoption of circular strategies, the industry’s environmental toll will only intensify. To address this, the Redress Design Award provides a comprehensive platform for emerging talent, offering robust educational resources, access to an alumni network, and career-defining opportunities to accelerate positive change within the fashion ecosystem.
To celebrate its 15th edition, Redress will host parallel events in February 2025 in Shanghai, a global fashion powerhouse, and Hong Kong, where the competition was born. These events will bring together leading industry figures to explore the intersections of culture, fashion, circularity, and sustainability within China’s dynamic fashion landscape. This initiative aims to spark vital dialogue and strengthen the competition’s influence across Asia, a region responsible for 60% of global garment and textile exports.
Prizes for the 2025 edition include an expenses-paid trip to Hong Kong for the ten finalists, where they will participate in masterclasses, educational experiences, and the prestigious Redress Design Award Grand Final Fashion Show at CENTRESTAGE in September 2025. Finalists will also receive an editorial feature in Vogue Hong Kong. Winners will gain access to transformative career opportunities, including brand collaborations, expert mentorships, cash prizes, and more.
As the Redress Design Award enters its 15th year, it continues to empower designers to redefine fashion’s future through creativity, sustainability, and innovation. The call for entries is now open—don’t miss the chance to be part of the change.
