Taobao launches campaign to support disabled entrepreneurs on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Taobao, together with the China Disabled Persons' Federation Employment Service Platform and Alibaba Charity, jointly launched the Double 12 “Seeing Treasure Action”, aimed at reducing operating costs and improving store revenues for small and medium-sized disabled merchants through public welfare channels and interactive mechanisms.

According to statistics, as of 2023, China's disabled population is about 85.914 million, accounting for 6.34% of the total population. On the Taobao platform, there are currently about 100,000 active disabled merchants, of which 70-80% are small and micro-merchants. In the “Seeing Treasure Action”, Taobao introduced four core support measures for disabled merchants to help them overcome business challenges and realize store growth and development.

To address the technical challenges of running a store, Taobao introduced an AI product, the “Business Manager”. This AI assistant, built by Taobao for merchants, integrates features such as material generation, data services, and operating agents. During this year's Double 11, it served over 4 million merchants, generating over 100 million pieces of merchandise and marketing materials for small and medium-sized merchants, and conducting data flow analysis for over 800,000 merchants, with over 2 million analyses conducted in total.

In addition to technical and operational support, merchants will also receive enhanced support in logistics and transportation. In this public welfare activity, Cainiao Guoguo not only provided shipping services for more than 700 certified disabled merchants, but also offered express fee discounts, saving up to RMB 198 per quarter for disabled merchants in shipping costs. Furthermore, each parcel will be accompanied by a special love sticker, conveying a message of positivity.
