MUJI Collaborates with Shanghai Natural History Museum to Explore “The Energy of Nature”
MUJI has partnered with the Shanghai Natural History Museum (a branch of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum) to launch a new co-branded diffuser crystal gift set inspired by the museum’s mineral collections. The collaboration, titled “Nature Has Energy,” marks a locally driven creative project that blends natural science, Chinese cultural symbolism, and MUJI’s minimalist design philosophy.
Designed by MUJI’s local China team in close collaboration with researchers from the Shanghai Natural History Museum, the collection draws inspiration from the museum’s “Treasures of the Earth” mineral exhibition. Carefully selected natural crystals are paired with fragrance elements to create an experience that highlights both the aesthetic and symbolic qualities of minerals. The gift set has launched for pre-sale via the MUJI app.
The series includes six themed gift sets in different colour palettes. A limited-edition version features coloured crystals alongside a Year of the Horse diffuser charm, while the standard editions are presented in five colours—red, white, yellow, green, and blue—each representing different forms of natural energy. The sets include 35 varieties of natural stones, such as orange calcite, white blue moonstone, and yellow aventurine, complemented by symbolic diffuser charms including peach blossoms, ancient coins, peanuts, ruyi motifs, and swimming fish, all associated with prosperity and good fortune.
Launched ahead of the Chinese New Year, the collection is designed to offer moments of calm and balance through natural fragrance, while also serving as a meaningful seasonal gift. In addition, MUJI will open an online exhibition titled “Nature Has Energy” on its app on January 25, inviting members to explore the world of natural crystals through an immersive digital experience and learn more about their geological and cultural significance.
