JIANGNANBUYI launches "Textile Possibility" book

In 2022, JIANGNANBUYI, in collaboration with Rong Library, embarked on a five-year research initiative called Textile Possibility, dedicated to exploring the cultural and material significance of textiles. This ambitious project sought to document, study, and rediscover the richness of traditional fabrics, delving into their creative origins and the intricate craftsmanship that brings them to life. With a modern visual approach, the project reinterprets the deep cultural heritage woven into the fabric of society.

As a key milestone of this initiative, JIANGNANBUYI has now published its first book, Textile Possibility, which showcases 11 compelling stories that celebrate the beauty of materials, the precision of craftsmanship, and the passion of artisans. The book invites readers to reconnect with the cultural and emotional value of traditional textiles, encouraging a deeper appreciation of these time-honored crafts in the context of modern living, and paving the way for the revitalization of heritage through contemporary eyes.

In August 2024, JIANGNANBUYI further brought its research to life with an exhibition titled How to Make Clothes. Presented for the first time at Hangzhou’s Tianmu Li, the exhibition offered the public a rare opportunity to engage with the brand’s innovative approach to fashion design and craftsmanship, showcasing the outcomes of three years of dedicated work in a visually captivating and immersive display.
