IPE releases supply chain impact rankings in China
The Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE) non-profit has released its annual rankings of companies' transparency and supply chain practices in China and their efforts to help mitigate climate change. For the second year running, Levi's topped IPE's CITI supply chain rankings and nine of the top 10 were fashion companies.
After Levi's, the top companies were Zara owner Inditex, Adidas, New Balance, Marks and Spencer, C&A, Nike, VF Corp, and Primark. Tech company Cisco (eighth) was the only non-fashion company in the top 10.
IPE is internationally recognized as the leading voice in China on environmental sustainability in manufacturing. Every year, it works with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) to compile and release the CITI, which ranks more than 600 global companies with sourcing in China. CITI ranks them according to how effectively they work with suppliers to cut emissions and waste and how transparent they are about their work.
