Global Fashion Summit unlocks a new era of sustainability with Chinamind NEXT in Shanghai

The most renowned non-profit organization in sustainable fashion, Global Fashion Agenda (GFA), has partnered with Chinamind NEXT to bring the prestigious Global Fashion Summit to China for the first time. Presented by Global Fashion Agenda and Chinamind NEXT, the Global Fashion Summit: Shanghai Gala will be held on 7 November 2024, on the eve of the organisations’ participation in the China International Import Expo. The gala will gather local and international stakeholders for a celebratory dinner including panel discussions centred around the theme ‘Unlocking The Next Level’.

The Global Fashion Summit, a hub for sustainable fashion discourse and authoritative opinions, will continue its Copenhagen theme in Shanghai. The summit will analyze industry trends from a forward-thinking perspective, bridge divides among global markets, eliminate information gaps, and foster upstream and downstream cooperation within the industry chain by sharing innovative cases and solutions. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the sustainable transformation of the global fashion industry.

The theme of the upcoming Gala continues the theme of the Copenhagen edition – ‘Unlocking The Next Level’. Inspired by a significant milestone, 2024 marks 15 years since the inaugural Global Fashion Summit. The Gala intends to raise awareness of sustainability in the fashion industry, showcase innovative practices and technologies, address pressing issues and solutions, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and inspire action toward sustainability goals.

The non-profit organization GFA accelerates the impact of sustainability on the fashion industry by inspiring, educating, influencing, and mobilizing all upstream and downstream stakeholders. With the annual gathering of thousands of industry professionals, GFA has led Northern Europe to become the "first tier" of global sustainable fashion, spreading sustainable ideas worldwide.

As a key player in the global market, China is crucial to the sustainable transformation of the fashion industry. Shanghai, a city where tradition meets innovation, provides a perfect backdrop for this industry gathering, highlighting China's significant role as the world's largest consumer of clothing and textiles. The entry of the Global Fashion Summit into China aims to introduce internationally advanced sustainability practices, help the Chinese fashion industry understand and adapt to international standards, and jointly promote the sustainable development of the global fashion industry.

During the 7th China International Import Expo, GFA and Chinamind NEXT officially formed their partnership, focusing on sustainable fashion as the core issue. Over the past 15 years, GFA has advocated for sustainability among upstream and downstream industries through a series of forums and activities, such as the Global Textile Policy Forum, which influences policy, and the Global Fashion Forum, which publishes monitoring reports, CEO agendas, and fashion and climate insights. GFA's Academy provides market education and industry guidance, offering solutions for fashion enterprises.
