FREITAG reimagines coastal creativity with Xiangzhi Fishing Port Community

Over the past year, FREITAG and Balangyu Coffee’s Xiangzhi Fishing Port branch have transformed discarded materials and port facilities into a vibrant seaside coffee hub under the theme of "Reimagine." FREITAG continues its innovative vision this spring by collaborating with local partners to host a series of creative events on February 15, blending sustainability, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage.

The "TWO FACE" event invites participants to craft their unique F717 TWO FACE MIAMI tote bags using repurposed truck tarps. Attendees will select materials and unleash their creativity to design personalized carryalls, embodying FREITAG’s ethos of functional upcycling. Alongside this, a fishing net weaving workshop led by Jeje from Neihai General Store will guide visitors to transforming old nets into artistic handicrafts, reviving traditional skills with a modern twist.

Adding cultural depth to the day, the Xiangzhi Fishing Port Nanyin Society will perform ancient southern Chinese folk music, merging the port’s maritime heritage with contemporary creative energy. These activities aim to foster a dialogue between environmental consciousness and cultural preservation.

Since its inception, FREITAG’s "Reimagine" project has redefined coastal lifestyles by turning waste into functional art. The February 15 event underscores the brand’s commitment to building eco-conscious communities while celebrating the unique spirit of Xiangzhi’s maritime culture.
