With sustainability a growing focus for the Greater Bay Area’s key fashion events, eight exceptional alumni designers of the Redress Design Award presented their emerging sustainable fashion brands at SS23 Shenzhen Fashion Week last week, supported by Redress in partnership with the Shenzhen Garment Industry Association (SGIA).

Bolstering the success of the Shenzhen show, Redress supported opportunities for 12 alumni brands to showcase in Hong Kong as part of the Redress Design Award 2022 finale events as well as at CENTRESTAGE, the annual fashion showcase organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

This year, Redress partnered with Tencel™ to support two alumni from Hong Kong, Eric Wong of Absurd Laboratory and Louise Lau of PSY LAU. Both designers utilized their regenerative fabrics converted from Tencel™ fibers with REFIBRA™ technology for their latest brand collections, which debuted this September at the Redress Design Award runway show.

In addition, Crystal International Group Limited provided educational sponsorship for the main competition cycle, and is providing key development support to alumni through an upcoming masterclass on low-carbon manufacturing. The next cycle of the Redress Design Award will kick off in January 2023, inviting emerging sustainable fashion designers with less than four years of industry experience to participate in the competition and gain the chance to join the Redress Design Award Alumni Network for career support.
