Collaboration drives growth in recycled lyocell and polyester fibers
Acegreen Eco-Material Technology, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Acelon Chemicals and Fiber Corporation, has announced a strategic partnership with Circ, a Virginia-based innovator in recycled materials, to scale the supply of sustainable fibers. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing circularity within the textile industry, addressing the growing global demand for recycled materials.
Under the agreement, Acegreen has committed to purchasing recycled pulp from Circ’s first commercial-scale facility over a five-year period. The pulp will produce pre-specified lyocell fibers, enabling brands to incorporate high-quality recycled materials into their supply chains. Additionally, Acelon will procure Circ’s recycled polyester over the same timeframe to support its polyester filament production.
“This partnership is a testament to Acegreen’s leadership in driving innovation and sustainability,” said Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ. “Acegreen was among the first to collaborate with us, pivotal in advancing our technology and demonstrating how next-generation materials can scale. Their agility and commitment are accelerating progress toward a circular economy.”
Acegreen’s dedication to sustainability is further validated by its consecutive Dark Green Shirt rankings in Canopy’s 2023 and 2024 Hot Button reports, recognizing its commitment to forest-friendly practices in manmade cellulose fiber production.
As demand for recycled materials continues to outpace supply, strategic alliances between innovators and fiber producers are critical to scaling sustainable solutions. By securing Circ’s recycled pulp and polyester, Acegreen ensures its customers have access to high-quality circular materials, helping brands and manufacturers reduce their environmental footprint and advance their sustainability goals.
“This collaboration reflects our deep commitment to sustainable fiber production and our contribution to the future of a circular textile economy,” said Roger Chou, CEO of Acegreen. “By working with Circ, we are not only securing a steady supply of innovative recycled materials but also reinforcing our dedication to reducing waste and promoting resource efficiency in the textile industry.”
