Cartier commits to snow leopard protection in China's Sanjiangyuan

The snow leopard serves as both a flagship and umbrella species for the alpine ecosystem, and is a barometer of its vitality or health status. As one of the most populated areas in China, the Sanjiangyuan region has garnered global attention for its conservation efforts aimed at saving this endangered species. Since 2022, Cartier for Nature, in collaboration with the China Green Foundation, has been dedicated to the protection of snow leopards. As World Snow Leopard Day approaches, Cartier has released a short film showcasing the voices of local ecological caretakers and the outcomes of the program's efforts over the past two years.

With support from Cartier for Nature, the China Green Foundation and its partners are strengthening the monitoring and protection of snow leopards in Sanjiangyuan. This protection work is inseparable from the years of dedication and vigilance of local frontline ecological caretakers. Their work in deserted areas, such as setting up cameras and conducting anti-poaching patrols, has laid a solid foundation for the program's achievements. To date, 394 ecological rangers from Sanjiangyuan National Park have participated in this endeavor, providing continuous support for the protection of snow leopards and their habitats. The two entities will continue to collaborate in the future to monitor and protect the snow leopards and their habitat in Sanjiangyuan.
