Aesop opens new store in Shanghai with recycled materials sourced from Jingdezhen

Aesop opens its second store in Shanghai with recycled materials sourced from Jingdezhen. Aesop's Jing'an Kerry Center store in Shanghai embodies the design concept of "Harmony and Reunion, Renewal and Growth." Nestled in the bustling heart of Jing'an's central business district, the store creates a comfortable circular space that harmoniously balances order and creativity. The inspiration for Aesop's design team came from a broken porcelain bowl, which, through meticulous craftsmanship, was restored and reborn, embracing Aesop's brand philosophy of sustainability and making the most of available resources.

The Aesop design team selected recycled ceramic tiles created by Yi Design, telling a story of enduring resilience and perpetual renewal. Yi Design collected a significant amount of discarded ceramics from local factories in Jingdezhen. Through a process of circular reuse, they transformed these materials into durable and long-lasting recycled ceramic tiles, each bearing the memories of past lives.
