YSL Beauty expands rewilding efforts in a partnership with Re:wild
Luxury beauty brand YSL Beauty has unveiled two new rewilding initiatives in collaboration with the global NGO Re:wild. Timed with International Rewinding Day, this announcement follows the brand's significant contribution to rewilding efforts, which has already impacted over 47,000 hectares of land worldwide.
As environmental degradation continues to threaten habitats and push species toward extinction, YSL Beauty is intensifying its commitment to conservation. With nearly 75% of natural habitats degraded and over 1 million species facing extinction, the brand recognizes the urgent need for action to prevent further loss.
The Rewild Our Earth program, a cornerstone of YSL Beauty's sustainability efforts, aims to protect and restore 100,000 hectares of wilderness by 2030. This vast expanse, almost ten times the size of Paris, will serve as crucial biodiversity reserves in priority areas where the brand sources its ingredients.
Over the past decade, YSL Beauty has implemented rewilding projects in Morocco, Haiti, Madagascar, Indonesia, and Canada. Now, it's expanding its footprint with new initiatives in the Bahamas and Colombia, two regions recognized as biodiversity hotspots facing severe threats.
In the Bahamas, the brand is supporting a rewilding team dedicated to preserving and rehabilitating the habitat of the critically endangered White Cay Iguanas. Meanwhile, in Colombia, YSL Beauty is contributing to the restoration of 3,579 hectares of buffer zones within the Colombian Chiribiquete and La Paya National Parks, situated in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
Through these efforts, YSL Beauty reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation, taking concrete steps to safeguard precious ecosystems for generations to come.
