PUMA and RE&UP forge global partnership to revolutionize circular textile innovation

Global sportswear giant PUMA and RE&UP Recycling Technologies announced today a groundbreaking multi-year collaboration to accelerate the adoption of fully circular textile solutions. The partnership, formalized through a Letter of Intent (LoI), will leverage RE&UP’s proprietary technology to transform textile waste into high-quality Next-Gen Recycled Cotton Fibers and Recycled Polyester Chips, marking a significant leap toward closing the loop in fashion sustainability.

Central to the collaboration is PUMA’s RE: FIBRE program, a textile-to-textile recycling initiative already producing millions of football jerseys using recycled materials. By integrating RE&UP’s advanced recycling capabilities, PUMA aims to reduce reliance on conventional bottle-recycled polyester and achieve 30% fiber-to-fiber recycled polyester fabric in apparel by 2030, a key target under its Vision 2030 sustainability goal.

RE&UP’s revolutionary technology addresses longstanding industry challenges by processing complex blended textiles—such as polycotton and polyester-elastane—traditionally deemed non-recyclable. Powered entirely by renewable energy and employing cutting-edge decolorization processes, RE&UP’s method sets a new benchmark for low-impact, high-performance recycled materials.

The partnership will expand PUMA’s RE:FIBRE program into the Americas, utilizing RE&UP’s raw materials within local supply chains. This move not only enhances regional sustainability efforts but also aligns with both companies’ commitment to scaling circular solutions globally. RE&UP’s annual production capacity of 80,000 tons of next-generation materials further solidifies its role as a critical enabler of industrial circularity.
