Loewe Foundation opens applications for ninth Craft Prize edition

The Loewe Foundation has launched the application process for the ninth edition of its prestigious Craft Prize, marking nearly a decade of celebrating excellence in contemporary craftsmanship. The competition, which will take place in Singapore in spring 2026, accepts entries through October 30, 2025.

The annual prize, established in 2016 by the Spanish luxury house, recognizes artistic merit, excellence, and innovation in contemporary crafts. Professional artists of legal age worldwide are eligible to participate, with the winner receiving a substantial €50,000 cash prize. Additionally, two special mentions will each be awarded €5,000.

The 2025 edition was won by Japanese artist Kunimasa Aoki for his work "Realm of Living Things 19," setting a high standard for the upcoming competition. Aoki will join this year's distinguished jury panel alongside several notable additions, including Scott Chaseling, Nifemi Marcus-Bello, and Didi NG Wing Yin, who were finalists in the previous edition.

The jury also features prominent figures from the fashion and design world, including Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the new creative directors at Loewe, as well as Sheila Loewe and other industry professionals. This expert panel will evaluate submissions based on originality, technical excellence, personal vision, and innovation before selecting 30 finalists.

The competition has grown significantly since its inception, establishing itself as a major platform for contemporary craftspeople to showcase their work on an international stage. The foundation plans to announce the finalists and specific venue details for the Singapore event early next year. Artists interested in participating can submit their applications through the official Loewe Foundation website, with the deadline firmly set for October 30, 2025.
