HUGO BOSS launches NovaPoly, a degradable yarn made from recycled textile waste
German fashion powerhouse HUGO BOSS has taken a bold step toward circular fashion innovation with the launch of NovaPoly, a groundbreaking degradable yarn derived entirely from recycled textile waste. Designed to combat microplastic pollution and reduce the industry’s environmental footprint, NovaPoly marks a pivotal advancement in sustainable material science.
Developed in collaboration with Jiaren Chemical Recycling and NBC LLC, NovaPoly transforms textile waste, sourced from both production offcuts and post-consumer garments, into a high-performance recycled polyester yarn. The material is infused with a proprietary natural additive that mimics organic fibers, enabling it to degrade more efficiently in natural environments compared to conventional synthetics.
HUGO BOSS holds exclusive trademark and usage rights to NovaPoly for one year, positioning the brand as a pioneer in eco-conscious textile innovation. Beyond exclusivity, the company plans to license the technology industry-wide after 2026, aiming to accelerate the adoption of circular solutions across fashion.
The first collection featuring NovaPoly will debut in the Spring/Summer 2026 BOSS Green line, available globally from October 2025. Products will launch across HUGO BOSS e-commerce platforms, flagship stores, and select wholesale partners.
This innovation builds on the brand’s prior sustainable material ventures, including its partnership with HeiQ AeoniQ on alternative polyamide fibers. Meanwhile, HUGO BOSS’s licensing ambitions for NovaPoly mirror industry trends, such as H&M-backed Syre’s $100M initiative to scale textile-to-textile polyester recycling.
