Estée Lauder Companies hires first chief sustainability officer

Mahon first joined Estée Lauder as Vice President of MAC Cosmetics and Executive Director of its Viva Glam Fund in 2006. In 2014, Mahon was appointed Senior Vice President of Global Citizenship and Sustainability. In this role, she helped to develop Estée Lauder's climate and environmental initiatives, with a focus on energy, emissions, packaging and ingredient traceability.

As Chief Sustainability Officer, Mahon will continue to focus on the strategic integration and implementation of the group's sustainability initiatives, as well as ESG reporting across the organisation. She will also continue to serve as Executive Director of The Estée Lauder Companies’ Charitable Foundation and remain a member of its ESG Management Committee.

The appointment develops Estée Lauder's efforts to reduce environmental impacts across operations and throughout the value chain. Moving forward, under Mahon's leadership, the group's sustainability strategy will continue to focus on "innovative solutions" to gain efficiencies and reduce impact at various stages of its products’ life cycles.

Fabrizio Freda, President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, said: “Sustainability has long been central to how The Estée Lauder Companies and its brands have operated, and is a key part of our corporate strategy.
