The SustAsia Fashion Prize 2025 launches to champion sustainability in Asian fashion

The SustAsia Fashion Prize 2025, a pioneering initiative by the Shanghai Fashion Design Association and yehyehyeh, has officially kicked off to champion sustainability in the Asian fashion industry. This competition aims to catalyze industry innovation by offering financial incentives and industry support to young designers who integrate sustainable practices into their work. It encourages the use of innovative, sustainable materials and techniques, aiming to promote their broader adoption and facilitate the fashion industry's transition towards greener practices.

The SustAsia Fashion Prize 2025 has assembled a prestigious advisory board consisting of industry leaders and experts from across Asia to guide the selection process. From this pool of applicants, eight finalists will be chosen, each receiving a cash prize of 10,000 RMB. These finalists will collaborate with next-generation material startups to design a set of garments or accessories using provided sustainable materials. The designs will be showcased in an exhibition and presented to the jury, with the ultimate winner receiving a grand prize of 100,000 RMB, along with extensive industry support and opportunities.

The judging criteria align with the "SHAN FUTURE CHALLENGE" principles, which emphasize the creation of avant-garde designs that are also sustainable and adaptable for the future. Designers are expected to employ earth-friendly strategies, use low-impact materials, and ensure transparency and durability in their designs. The public application period is open until October 31, 2024, with the final event scheduled for Shanghai Fashion Week in March 2025.
