Stella McCartney and H&M Reunite for Sustainability-Focused Collection Built on Regenerative and Recycled Materials

British designer Stella McCartney has reunited with H&M for a new collaborative collection that places material innovation and responsible sourcing at the centre of contemporary fashion design. Marking 21 years since McCartney became one of the first designers to collaborate with the fast-fashion retailer, the 2026 collection blends relaxed tailoring, occasionwear, and everyday essentials while showcasing the growing role of recycled, regenerative, and certified materials in mainstream fashion.

The collection incorporates a wide range of lower-impact materials, including ROC™ Regenerative Organic Certified cotton, Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)-certified wool, GOTS-certified organic cotton and silk blends, as well as recycled metals and recycled glass embellishments. Several standout pieces also experiment with next-generation alternatives: a snakeskin-effect bomber jacket uses a coated material partly derived from recycled vegetable oil and agricultural waste such as straw, while a red chiffon dress is made using recycled textiles sourced from garment collection and production leftovers.

Long recognised for championing cruelty-free and environmentally conscious fashion through her namesake label, Stella McCartney continues to position design innovation as a driver for sustainability rather than a compromise on desirability. The collaboration reflects a broader shift within the fashion industry, where large-scale commercial collections are increasingly incorporating traceable fibres, regenerative agriculture standards, and circular material solutions into accessible consumer products.

Beyond material choices, the collection also highlights evolving conversations around transparency and supply-chain responsibility. Certifications featured throughout the range — including ROC™, RWS and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) — address environmental and social criteria such as soil health, animal welfare, workers’ rights and reduced chemical use. Available from May 7 in selected stores and online, the Stella McCartney x H&M collection demonstrates how collaborative fashion projects are becoming platforms for scaling sustainability innovation to wider audiences.
