Spiber Partners with JNBY Group—Brewed Protein™ Fiber Adopted by a Chinese Fashion Brand for the First Time
Japanese biotechnology company Spiber Inc. has announced a new collaboration with JNBY Group, a leading contemporary fashion conglomerate based in Hangzhou, China. The partnership marks a major milestone as the first time Brewed Protein™ fiber has been adopted by a Chinese fashion brand, underscoring Spiber’s growing presence in the Chinese market and expanding its focus from industrial collaborations to direct partnerships with consumer-facing brands.
Two of JNBY Group’s flagship labels, JNBY and CROQUIS, are introducing new outerwear pieces made with Brewed Protein™ fiber—a plant-based, circular material designed to reduce dependence on animal- and petroleum-derived resources.
CROQUIS, known for its intelligent and architectural menswear, released a double-faced wool coat on September 26, featuring 10% Brewed Protein™ fiber blended with fine 17.5-micron wool yarn. The design highlights precision craftsmanship and a lightweight yet structured silhouette.
JNBY, the group’s founding womenswear brand, will launch a Super 120 wool coat in October, integrating Brewed Protein™ fiber to achieve a luxurious texture and sculptural form that embodies the brand’s minimalist and experimental aesthetic.
The partnership was also featured at the 2025 SHAN Future Forum during Shanghai Fashion Week, where leaders from Spiber, JNBY Group, and Plug and Play China discussed material innovation and sustainable brand transformation.
Looking ahead, Spiber plans to deepen its engagement with fashion brands across Asia, continuing its mission to accelerate sustainable innovation through the evolution of biomaterials.
