LOEWE unveils new Chengdu store at Taikoo Li

LOEWE has opened its newest store in Chengdu, located in the historic Taikoo Li district. This 715 sqm store seamlessly integrates Chinese and Spanish architectural elements, spread across two floors and featuring two tranquil courtyard gardens. The store offers the complete range of LOEWE’s women’s and men’s collections, including a selection of exclusive items, and showcases an exquisite curation of international art, design, and craftsmanship.

The new LOEWE store at Taikoo Li Chengdu features a specially commissioned digital art installation by Chengdu-born artist Jiang Zongbo. Additionally, works by LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize finalists Wanbing Huang and Lu Bin, sculptor Lynda Benglis, silversmith Vladimir Böhm, basketmaker Joe Hogan, and painters Walter Price and Cecilia Edelfak are displayed. The retail design, meticulously overseen by Creative Director Jonathan Anderson, pays homage to LOEWE’s Mediterranean roots while respecting the historical features of the building.

The serene outdoor spaces and the thoughtfully integrated artworks highlight LOEWE’s commitment to sustainability and natural beauty. Among the notable pieces are "The Entropy Reduction of Chaos" (2022) by Huang Wanbing, a finalist in the 2023 LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, and "Vase" (1997) by ceramic artist Lu Bin, also a 2023 finalist. Other featured artworks include paintings by Walter Price and Cecilia Edelfalk, playful ceramics by Laia Arqueros, and a magnificent bronze sculpture by Lynda Benglis, "Elephant: The First Step Forward" (2018), which was also showcased at LOEWE’s Spring/Summer 2024 womenswear show.
