LOEWE presents its first exhibition at Loewe Chengdu Gaozhai: "Chengdu By Hand"

In June this year, LOEWE opened its third store in Chengdu at the historic Gaozhai location, merging traditional Chinese and Spanish elements. The new store reflects LOEWE's Mediterranean roots while honoring the architectural heritage of Gaozhai, embodying the brand’s respect and unique expression of local culture.

From August 29 to September 11, LOEWE hosted its inaugural themed photography exhibition at Gaozhai—titled "Chengdu By Hand." The exhibition, curated by Chinese photographer Bowei Yang, focuses on the people who live and work in Chengdu, capturing the hands that shape this vibrant city.

Through Yang's lens, ten groups of local artists, artisans, and creatives from Chengdu are showcased as they innovate, explore the unknown, and drive the local culture forward with their hands. These "craftsmen," including installation artists, object restoration artisans, and pastry chefs, represent various professions. Through this exhibition, LOEWE presents the diverse fabric of Chengdu, revealing the city’s past and future and the connections between individuals and the community—all through the power of hands.

To coincide with the exhibition, LOEWE also released the fourth edition of its brand magazine, featuring a special "Chengdu By Hand" issue. This edition includes Yang's photography and interviews with all the featured creators. The magazine and its special issue will be displayed at creative spaces throughout Chengdu, further spreading the craft and artistic inspiration, and showcasing the extraordinary vitality of Chengdu.
