DESCENTE launches new sustainability initiative and clothing recycling program
DESCENTE recently unveiled its latest sustainability initiative, "Design that Sustain," along with a clothing recycling program targeted at its members. Staying true to its brand philosophy of "Design Driven Sports," DESCENTE extends this approach to sustainability by implementing eco-friendly materials, manufacturing processes, and resource recycling to create products with longer lifespans and reduced environmental impact.
The new initiative, "RE\:DESCENTE," focuses on three core areas: "Design-Driven Source Reduction," "Design-Driven Waste Regeneration," and "Design-Driven Material Reuse," aligning with the principles of REDUCE, RECYCLE, and REUSE. With design as the cornerstone, DESCENTE integrates environmental considerations into every stage of product development, from raw materials to finished products, transforming sustainability into a tangible and wearable practice.
Integrating Eco-Friendly Materials Within the "RE\:DESCENTE" initiative, the design process is not only about form and function but also about embedding sustainability into the product's entire lifecycle. DESCENTE plans to incorporate biodegradable and highly durable, eco-friendly fibers like KAMITO to balance high-performance functionality with environmental responsibility. Additionally, the brand is optimizing fabric production and dyeing processes to minimize water usage and carbon emissions, reducing environmental impact from the outset.
