CryingCenter and OceanWe Turn Marine Conservation into Wearable Action
Chinese streetwear label CryingCenter has partnered with marine conservation organisation OceanWe to launch a capsule collection inspired by a joint orca research expedition in Mexico. Rather than relying on symbolic environmental messaging, the collaboration brought the brand’s creative team directly into the field, where photographs, observations and stories from the scientific expedition became the foundation for the collection’s visual designs. The project aims to give consumers a more authentic connection to marine conservation by translating real-world research into wearable storytelling.
Beyond raising awareness, the collaboration also incorporates a direct conservation impact: 20% of profits from the collection will be donated to OceanWe to support marine ecosystem protection. The initiative builds on CryingCenter’s growing portfolio of purpose-driven collaborations, following its participation in the Ocean Partner programme and previous social impact projects, including designing football kits for a women’s team in Kenya and funding a children’s library through product sales.
Together, these initiatives reflect how fashion brands are increasingly using design, transparent giving mechanisms and community engagement to make sustainability and social impact more accessible to everyday consumers.
