Burberry and Chinese National Geography Launch Documentary Series Showcasing China’s Natural and Cultural Heritage
As part of its 170th anniversary celebrations, Burberry has partnered with Chinese National Geography to launch ‘Expedition with Burberry’, a three-part documentary series that explores China’s diverse natural landscapes and rich cultural traditions. Featuring Burberry brand ambassador Chen Kun alongside experts from Chinese National Geography, the series follows immersive journeys through some of the country’s most remarkable ecological and cultural regions, encouraging audiences to reconnect with nature while gaining a deeper understanding of local communities and traditions.
The first episode takes viewers from the historic city of Xi’an into the Qinling Mountains, a vital ecological corridor that forms the geographical boundary between northern and southern China. Along the way, the team explores Tang Dynasty heritage sites, experiences traditional Huayin Laoqiang folk music, and uncovers the region’s unique biodiversity, ancient forests, alpine meadows, and glacier-formed Stone Seas dating back more than two million years. By combining outdoor exploration with scientific storytelling, the collaboration underscores the value of environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and responsible engagement with nature—issues that are increasingly relevant in the context of global sustainability discussions.
The series also reflects Burberry’s longstanding connection to the outdoors. Founded in 1856, the brand has a heritage rooted in exploration and innovation, dating back to Thomas Burberry’s invention of weatherproof gabardine fabric. Through this collaboration, Burberry and Chinese National Geography aim to inspire greater appreciation for China’s natural heritage while fostering dialogue around the relationship between people, culture, and the environment.
