Aesop launches ‘Rinse and Return’ recycling program to celebrate Earth Day

Keeping with its enduring commitment to sustainability and its guiding ethos of “giving more than taking,” Aesop has launched the Rinse and Return Program. This initiative begins with the communities, customers, and employees closest to the brand. Aesop’s packaging, a harmonious blend of science and poetry, is more than a vessel for its formulations—it is a promise to the planet. And when the final drop is used, its journey is far from over.

As of March 2025, the Rinse and Return Program has successfully collected 536 kilograms of empty packaging in China, including 409 kg of glass, 49.8 kg of plastic, 44.7 kg of metal, and 30.5 kg of paperboard. These figures represent more than just material recovery—they reflect a deeper philosophy of urban ecology and mindful regeneration.

This Earth Day, Aesop invites individuals to take part in the ongoing program by rinsing and returning used Aesop packaging—glass bottles, plastic components, paper boxes, and aluminum tubes—to any store across mainland China. In recognition of these thoughtful efforts, the top 1,000 customers with the highest number of returned containers will receive a limited-edition Geranium Leaf Body Treatment.

Aesop believes that every green commitment begins with humility toward nature. Through small but resolute actions, the brand hopes to inspire collective reflection and care for our shared environment—one bottle at a time.
